The 1920s, Gonâve, a small Haitian island in the Caribbean Sea. The invasion of colonial investment is progressing. A former miner of Polish descent - Faustin Wirkus - the administrator of the island, befriends its inhabitants. Named king by the local community, he tries to help the island. However, his plan to publicize the situation on Gonâve brings unexpected results. The film is inspired by the true story of Faustin Wirkus.
