Television dramatisation of the novella by brothers Jules and Edmond Goncourt. The melodramatic romantic story of young Germinie, who has always longed for love and understanding, but has missed out on much in life. From a young age, she served in the service of various people, until she was finally taken in by Miss. She loved her, and to Germinie, Missy was everything. But when the young woman meets Bibi, the milkman's son, her destiny becomes so tangled up because of a tragic love affair that she betrays all the ideals and moral values of her life.
