Davie Szyanski is a high school boy dealing with the recent passing of his mother. His father, Ron, a failed musician and athlete, having lost his job in the steel mills, took a job as a janitor in an exclusive prep school to provide Davie with a better education. It is there that they both experience a world which pushes them further apart. Davie becomes a compulsive liar to fit in and although lacking in talent, dreams of being a rock star. Together they deal with their losses and discover that the one thing they will always have is each other.
