Having impulsively promised Johnny that she'll marry him if McPhee wins, heroine Pepper Wilson begins canvassing the voters on behalf of rival candidate Gildersleeve. But the race is won by a dark horse, blacksmith Gunther Potts, who single-handedly cleans out the corrupt element in the local government.
