A year in the life of the Sami boy Ante. He is the son of a reindeer herder, and he dreams of taking over from his father. He loves life on the Arctic tundra, but when fall comes he has to start boarding school, while the family follows the reindeer on winter pastures. He struggles to adapt at school, but gradually he gets to know Per, who becomes his best friend. Together they plan the future.
