Sofia is a young student in an acting class who learns some of the secrets of the trade from three great actresses: Mariangela Melato teaches her to lie, Stefania Sandrelli teaches her to tell the truth, and Alida Valli teaches her about the illusion of art. Lies, truth, and illusion that Sofia tries to apply to everyday life, to her relationship with her man and her best friend.
