Head of the family Marcel Kiekens, a manure cart driver by profession, has his hands full with his brother Theo, a scrap metal dealer, and especially with the eccentric Gilbert, who takes care of the chickens and has a peculiar hobby: digging wells. "Their quiet life is in danger of being cruelly disrupted by their cousin and neighbor Odette," says Dan Key. "She dreams of joining the select circle of middle-class women.
