Walter Wasik (birth name: Volodymyr Yosypovych Vasik) was born on May 1, 1930, in Sambir near Lviv, Ukraine. He underwent training at Hollywood studios went studied at the Brooks Institute of Photography (1955-1956), originally based in Santa Barbara, and then he studied at the New York Institute of Photography (1961-1963). In the early 1950s, Walter Wasik began his independent activity as a director and producer of documentary films, and founded the studio "Wasik Films".
