Michelle Terry, Ekim 1979 tarihinde Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, İngiltere'de dünyaya gelmiştir. Mühendis bir babanın kızı olan Terry, Nuneaton ve Gloucester'da büyüdü. Akademik eğitimini Cardiff Üniversitesi'nde İngiliz Edebiyatı üzerine tamamladıktan sonra oyunculuk tutkusunun peşinden giderek Londra'daki prestijli Kraliyet Dramatik Sanatlar Akademisi'ne (RADA) girdi ve buradan 2004 yılında mezun oldu.
