Poom Saiyavath was born in Bangkok in 1987. He moved to London in 2008, where he completed a BA in Filmmaking at the University of the Arts, London. During his studies, he began to expand his onset experience, working his way up from Spark to Gaffer to Camera Assistant and finally to Director of Photography, across a number of short film projects. Upon graduating, he shot his first feature film entitled The Milky Way (2013).
