Rafael Arévalo has become one of the most prominent and important filmmakers of the so-called Peruvian Independent Cinema or New Peruvian Cinema in recent years. He is a graduate of the Charles Chaplin Institute of Communication Sciences. He owns his own production company, El Topo Producciones.
