Yoshiharu Ueoka produced a number of independent 8mm films in the Kansai region at the end of the 1970s, and also directed a theatrical release, The Whispering of Spirits. His films were deeply intertwined with the Kansai subculture scene of the time and created a one-of-a-kind world in which manga artist Michio Hisauchi and cult queen Alice Saylor played angels and demons.
