Her parents noticed her artistic abilities and sent her to a Russian school with a focus on choreography. Despite her dance training, Asel became interested in mathematics and excelled in her studies. At the age of 14, she received an invitation from a modeling agency and started working in advertising. She also participated in beauty contests.
