Emils grew up as a hyperactive, multitasking mogul in the outskirts of Riga, Latvia. He began his career as a 2AC camera loader on major feature films, where he developed his eye for framing and the collaborative skills essential to a cinematographer. His Director of Photography debut feature film, Slapes (Thrist, 2024), showcases complex handheld camera movement and resonant imagery.
